Pam Longobardi: Drifters

The nascent downtown art scene has recently witnessed the loss of two of NoBro's pioneer spaces, and the emergence of the new Tinney Contemporary gallery. After a bit of a false start, Tinney seems to be finding its footing with the arrival of Nashville art vet John Reed as Director/Curator. Reed seems willing to take some chances, and the gallery's current exhibit is a show of installation art by Pam Longobardi. Drifters consists of web-like, multimedia constructions made from the consumer detritus the artist collects on the shores of the Pacific ocean. Ideas about reclamation, context and architecture all find a place in the artist's tangled colors. Here's hoping that challenging programming will continue to transform the Art Crawl into a dynamic quest, in keeping with Longbardi's alchemical example.
