Otaku South Extra Large

Otaku South, Sarah Gavigan’s roving ramen pop-up series, has become incredibly popular, and for good reason: The broths are delicious, the ingredients fresh, the noodles hearty, the energy and enthusiasm of both patrons and cooks palpable. For this “Extra Large” edition, Gavigan is bringing in four chefs from out of town, and the roster is intriguing: Phillip Foss, the man behind popular Chicago micro restaurant EL Ideas; Guy Wong, whose Miso Izakaya in Atlanta was named one of the six best izakayas in the country by Bon Appétit; Akiko Moorman, a New York chef and consultant who worked at Momofuko; and Dennis Lange, whose hotly anticipated restaurant Southbound is slated to open in Atlanta suburb Chamblee in the summer. There will be three ramen styles, and according to Gavigan, one “big-ass yakitori grill.” Ramen bowls and yakitori plates will sell for $12 each, and there will be a cash bar. And since it’s Record Store Day, live musical entertainment is in the works.
