One Dog Night

Chesapeake at Darkhorse Theater

Chesapeake at Darkhorse Theater
We're seeing more local premieres in this town, thanks to newer companies like Tennessee Women's Theatre Project and Naked Stages (plus old standbys like People's Branch Theatre and Actors Bridge Ensemble). Now in its fifth season, GroundWorks Theatre has also steadfastly driven that agenda, and their latest, a one-man show written by Lee Blessing, stars Jack E. Chambers as a New York performance artist who relates the highlights of his life, primarily concerning his introduction to art, his eventful relationship to a Southern politician...and a dog. (That should be a savory enough recipe to draw in Music Citizens.) Actors Bridge has successfully produced two of Blessing's other works in Nashville, including Independence and the Tony- and Pulitzer-nominated A Walk in the Woods. Robert A. O'Connell directs.
Thursdays-Saturdays, 7:30 p.m.; Sun., Oct. 5, 2:30 p.m.; Sun., Oct. 12, 2:30 p.m. Starts: Oct. 3. Continues through Oct. 18, 2008
