One Divine Evening feat. We Were The States Santa, The Outlaw Lovers & Cody Blaine

When: Sat., July 31, 9 p.m. 2010
Price: $5
We thought our air conditioner was broken, so it must be a cold day in hell if we're writing up Cody Blaine. Only kidding! While we'll admit that years ago, when we first met Blaine — back when we were still kickin’ around Murfreesboro fulltime — his, uh, boyish enthusiasm for just about everything got on our every last nerve, we also have to admit that he's grown to become quite the accomplished songwriter and performer. With his bullfrog-dry-humping-sandpaper vocals and a stellar band of ’Boro all-stars backing him up (Funstix's Spencer Duncan, Hammertorch’s Tyler Coppage and Steven Daly and Ghostfinger's Matt Rowland), Blaine creates a dark, brooding map of the heart at its most battered and bruised. If you like your American music as fucked up as the nation that birthed it — or you just can't get enough Tom Waits — Blaine is sure to satisfy.
