“Sweet Caroline” or “Tainted Love”? It’s what you might call an impossible decision. Luckily, if stuff white people like is stuff that you also like, then Cannery Row is the place to be as human society progresses another year—while your musical tastes remain, at least for the evening, somewhere between 1971 (“I Am...I Said”) and 1989 (“Love Shack”). Get your fill of Neil Diamond covers downstairs at Cannery Ballroom, or dig the hits of the 1980s upstairs at Mercy Lounge with Guilty Pleasures. As an added sweetener, there might even be some actual white stuff, thanks either to Mother Nature, Lisa Patton or, more likely, the Mercy Lounge’s film-grade indoor snow machine.
