Actors Bridge Ensemble presents the Nashville premiere of this Tony–nominated drama that portrays a gay relationship shattered by tragedy. Actor/director/writer Geoffrey Nauffts’ moving work gained some excellent notices in its 2010 Broadway debut, enjoying a relatively modest five-month run. It’s a thoughtful piece for thoughtful viewers, as Luke and Adam — a contemporary odd couple — tolerate each other’s religious and personal differences until life throws them a serious curve. Besides the Tony nod, this witty, poignant love story was also considered for best play by the Outer Critics Circle Awards and the Drama Desk Awards. Making his professional debut as a director is Ricardo Puerta, and the play stars Chuck Long, Conway Preston, Kara McLeland, Joe Blankenship, Phil Perry and Denice Hicks. The production is part of Actors Bridge’s 2014 “The Secret’s Out Season,” which presents stories that explore cultural taboos and invite community dialogue. Following the March 23 and 30 matinees, there will be talk-backs with the cast and leaders of Nashville’s LGBT community.
