After three years without an arena football team, the Kats will be back in the "alley" soon, as Titans owner Bud Adams has forged a deal with arena management to begin a new Kats franchise here. To seal the deal, Nashville Predators owner Craig Leipold and the company that manages the arena had to offer Adams a piece of concessions and luxury suite revenues as well as a sweetheart rent. As usual, Bud gets what Bud wants.

We don't know why anyone would care, but...

The TSSAA has placed the Hillwood High School athletics department on probation for one year—and its football team on probation for two years—for rules violations. The school's principal, Alan Johnson, told The City Paper that the sanctions are because football players who don't attend Hillwood played with the team during spring practice. The school plans to suspend its head football coach, Jerry Link, for a while, and it has also been fined $1,500.

For those who live in caves, it's hot as Hades outside, humidity is rising and the vegetable gardens are screaming for rain. We're dreaming of college football, falling leaves and brown liquor.
