Nekromantix at the Muse

'Hainted Love

'Hainted Love
Danish psychobilly trio Nekromantix, led by bassist/boogieman Kim Nekroman, don't need Halloween to have a hauntingly good time. Besides the band's boogieman bling (Nekroman's stand-up bass is shaped like a coffin) and soft/loud dynamics (you know when you're minding your own beeswax at a car show or motorcycle gathering, and someone surreptitiously slips the keys into the ignition of some great beast and causes instant ass/underwear interaction? Kinda like that), there are touches of doo-wop vocalizing, B-movie dialogue (thankfully, not Bee Movie dialogue) and nods to the Misfits, The Cramps, and any number of other sorta-psychobilly bands who helped pave the way (yes, even KISS). It's nothing like scary, mind you, and way more Ed Wood than head-in-woodchipper. But it is a ghoulish good time, especially if you missed out on Halloween this year. Did we mention they all sport sick high-top fades?
