When it comes to barbecue, Memphians claim that their city is home to the best ribs, and there’s plenty to back that claim, judging by the tender, meaty, seasoned racks at the Nashville outpost of this popular, family-owned Memphis restaurant. Thanks to the comfortable ambiance and friendly staff of this casual restaurant, there’s no reason you won’t want to grab a seat and stay awhile. The menu offers standard barbecue choices—pulled or chopped pork, sliced or chopped beef, pork or beef ribs, turkey and chicken—along with barbecue salad, barbecue spaghetti and barbecue nachos. “We took my mother’s spaghetti recipe and added pork and barbecue sauce,” owner Tony Neely explains. “It’s very popular in Memphis.” But his true artistry is in his pulled pork sandwiches and pork ribs, both infused with smoky hickory flavor, slow-cooked to melt-in-the-mouth tenderness and juicy, sloppy, messy wet with Neely’s great sauce.
