Nashville Dancin' feat. Will Hoge, Drake White and the Big Fire, Clare Dunn & Brian Collins

When: Thu., June 26, 6 p.m. 2014
Price: free
This week’s installment of the Dancin’ in the District reboot features talents who exemplify the ever-expanding sound of country music. You’d be hard-pressed to mark any of them as “country” on first listen, yet they were all part of this year’s CMA Fest. Even if you heard Eli Young Band’s Grammy-nominated recording of Will Hoge’s “Even If It Breaks Your Heart” a time too many, Hoge’s skill at expressing things deeply felt without getting saccharine is second to none. Being licensed for a Chevy truck ad can’t diminish his “Strong,” a song as powerful as the mentors it memorializes. Drake White and the Big Fire earn their moniker with a dynamite stage act and a diverse catalog that draws from Muscle Shoals and the Crescent City as much as Music City. Belmont grad Clare Dunn recently broke onto the scene with a commanding voice and noteworthy guitar-slinging skills on the single “Get Out.” Rounding out the bill are Brian Collins and his band, whose sound recalls the country bedrock at the foundation of Bob Seger’s catalog.
