Myles Bennett's A 21st Century Luddite

I Can See for Myles

I Can See for Myles
Outside of Cumberland Gallery, we're not used to finding killer contemporary art in Green Hills. Myles Bennett is a Nashville native with a new exhibit that nearly passed beneath our radar, but not quite. Bennett's current show, A 21st Century Luddite, features imaginative oil, ink and graphite canvases that display his preoccupations with art history and design alike. Bennett's best work deconstructs his writhing figures both anatomically and architecturally, breaking down his subjects along cubistic planes while simultaneously maintaining an obsessive attention to detail in his draftsmanship. Here's hoping that the Bennett Galleries continue to feature compelling, contemporary work of this caliber.
Tuesdays-Saturdays. Starts: May 7. Continues through May 15, 2009
