OK. Given
Scene music editor
Steve Haruch's flowchart, its pretty clear that the Nashville music fan has plenty of options on this, the last night of 2009. So why spend it on the East Side? Well, for starters, youve got supergroup of the year The Non-Commissioned Officers, whose
Make-Out With Violence EP is now being distributed by Rough Trade in the UK. Theyre known for their epic lineup and hearty wall-of-New-Wave approach to dance-pop numbers. Then theres My So-Called Band, who have become something of a local sensation of late, performing spot-on covers of 90s pleasures, some of a guilty nature. Both groups are known for their ensemble approach and many cameos, so expect a surprise or two. And lest we forget The Fork Hunts, the crassly and punnily named quartet of ladies who perform a jokey, caterwauling style of anti-music. (Its OK; thats what theyre going for.) Trust us, this is as good a place as any to see the ball drop, so to speak.
