Generally speaking, musicians aren’t famous for fiscal responsibility. These days, of course, neither are bankers, which only makes this free workshop more necessary. Most people know MusiCares from the Recording Academy’s Grammy telecast — for musicians in dire financial, medical or personal crisis, the organization provides a much-needed safety net. More than that, MusiCares seeks to focus the music industry’s attention on issues directly impacting the lives of its workforce — in this case, financial wellbeing. Workshop leader Kris Miller brings a holistic approach to estate planning, helping clients preserve their financial wealth as well as their life stories and family heirlooms (and gear!). Planned topics include living trusts, living wills, powers of attorney, irrevocable trusts, family limited partnerships, retirement planning and charitable gifting strategies. (The pizza can feed a family of four, by the way.)
