Music City Roots hosted by Jim Lauderdale feat. The Sam Bush Band, Jeff Black, John Oates & more

When: Wed., Nov. 10, 7 p.m. 2010
Sam Bush and his band return to the city’s hippest country-and-more variety show to serve up another round of bluegrass-based music that nods in so many directions it spins like a top — and that’s a good thing. New bandmember Todd Parks (bass) is easing into the groove nicely, and the remainder of the group is familiar enough with each others’ moves to make things both intimate and energetic. Along with Bush, you get longtime buddy and scary good singer-songwriter Jeff Black, who co-wrote the title track to Bush’s latest, and newer pal (and rock star) John Oates, whose own roots moves have produced some dandy stuff, including the Aspen Songwriter festival he hosted back in September, which featured both Bush and Black. Getting a bunch of good artists together for a show is easy; crafting a lineup as neatly connected as this one, not so much. 7
