Music City July 4: Let Freedom Sing

When: Fri., July 4, 12 p.m. 2014
Celebrate Independence Day with the longest and largest fireworks display in our city’s history. If that’s not enough to convince you to head downtown to ring in the Fourth, this free event will feature a performance by Billy Currington, Ashley Monroe and Striking Matches at the mainstage at First and Broadway. The kid-friendly event kicks off at noon with a Family Fun Zone at Fifth and Broadway, which will be filled with inflatables, games and live music from The Farewell Drifters and Jason Eskridge. At approximately 9:45 p.m., the Nashville Symphony Orchestra will accompany the massive fireworks display, which will run 27 minutes and will feature more than 1 million fireworks shells and devices! Just kidding, it’s actually 30,000, but that’s still a lot of bang, weighing in at 8 tons of explosives. ABBY WHITE
