Movies at Main: Serenity

Browncoats Ride!

Browncoats Ride!
Like pretty much everything that carries writer-director Joss Whedon's signature, from Buffy through Dollhouse, this engaging space oater reborn from the ashes of the short-lived TV series Firefly was a cult item on arrival: The 2005 film lives on in yearly "Can't Stop the Serenity" charity screenings across the country every summer. Though this one doesn't seem to be affiliated, fans will still want to check it out: Downtown library staffer Bill Chamberlain conducted a podcast interview just for the occasion with the movie's cinematographer, Jack N. Green (Unforgiven). To be projected from Blu-Ray, the movie is free and open to the public; you can listen to the interview at feeds.feedburner.com/popmatic.
