Midnight Maraders at the Muse

Boombaclot!!!

Boombaclot!!!
Come with us on a journey back in time to an era when wobble-bass was not the tone du jour and organ-rattling sub-bass wasn’t a prerequisite for getting your music played in the club. Those of us who remember those days will recall that there was one genre that delivered goods, with huge bubbling reggae bass lines and a tempo you could dance to without roasting the lamb’s bread until you’re retarded. Yes, drum-and-bass, that staple of the ’90s rave scene—that sadly wasn’t mainstreamed this along with its peers IDM and blog house—is still alive and kickin’, it’s just deeper in the shadows of the underground. Cincinnati DJs Hatchet Jimmy, Rumble and Tarantula Head keep the flame alive while maintaining the genre’s connection to it’s dancehall past, while locals Chris Smotherman and Tim Prince bring it up to date with the ill dub step.
