Nashville’s historic Cannery Row, off Eighth Avenue South in an old converted warehouse, lie the Mercy Lounge and the Cannery Ballroom, two of Nashville’s premier music venues. The second-story Mercy Lounge offers standing room for 500 people and features pool tables, a large bar and pinball machines. Downstairs sits the renovated Cannery Ballroom, a massive venue with standing room for 1,000. Since the ’80s, The Lounge/Ballroom has welcomed some of the nation’s top touring acts, including Jane’s Addiction, Gregg Allman and Iggy Pop.

Re: “The Long Players perform George Harrison's All Things Must Pass

George was ahead of his time. Instead of doing an initial release, and then later issuing an "extended", "special", etc version, as is the money-grubbing way of the music industry today, he included the extra disc with the original release with its jams and "outtakes".

Totally agree with your assessment of it being the bext post-Beatles album, and is in my top 10 albums of all time by anyone.

Re: “Metal at the Mercy: An Evening of KISS

Hope you're happy as one song from The Elder was performed. Kinda bummed they didn't play anything from Unmasked. I was hoping for Shandi or She's So European. What are ya gonna do? Killer set Saturday night none the less.

Your highly complimentary tone was much appreciated! It has been my experience that, all too often, journalists tend to be dismissive of Greg's deeply moving lyric's, and his wonderfully (slightly) out of tune voice.

Re: “Live and Direct Hip Hop Showcase feat. Murs, 9th Wonder, Freddie Gibbs & more

I can't wait to see this! This is the type of event I could only have dreamed of a couple years back. The Nashville hip hop scene is really growing and I appreciate publications such as yourself for helping our scene expand in a major way!

Re: “The Greatest Decade, Vol. 2: I'm So Bored With the U.S.A: A Tribute to The Clash, The Ramones & The Sex Pistols

The guys who covered the Sex Pistols' Never Mind the Bollocks were phenomenal! Great vocals (just enough in character to be entertaining, but not quite creepy,) excellent Steve Jones-ish guitar... solid rhythm section. That was a blast to see and hear-- great job.

This bullshit biased review is exactly why I pulled my all of my paid advertising from the Nashville Scene. I can't believe that a local "music rag" in "music city" allowed this to be printed.
