Remembrance of Flumes Past

Remembrance of Flumes Past
For the duration of NPT's latest (and perhaps greatest) slice of Nashville nostalgia, the Wabash Cannonball roars into its gravity-defying curve, drinks come in orange-shaped containers and the Grizzly River Rampage is raging whitewater instead of a concrete ditch. Writer-director Justin Harvey gathers home-movie footage, archival clips and interviews with patrons and performers to cover the country-music theme park's 25-year run all the way to its closing in 1997--when, as one former employee recalls, families came with screwdrivers and tools to chip away bits of memorabilia. Get ready to line up again for rides on the Hangman, Chaos, the Old Mill Scream and the awesomely rickety Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. If the words "Screamin' Delta Demon" kindle a warm flicker in the chambers of your heart, fire up the TiVo.
