To be frank, every time we see this all-star tribute act's name, we get a little giggly. See, there was this Norwegian black-metal band by the same name. Maybe you've heard of them — when the original singer committed suicide, the drummer turned chunks of his skull into a necklace, and another dude ate some of his brain. There was also the time the bass player shivved the brain-eating singer 20-something times. Needless to say, the very thought of that Mayhem covering, say, Born to Run or The Stones' Goat's Head Soup is pretty fucking hilarious — just imagine a bunch of dudes in codpieces and corpse paint singing “Angie.” And while the local, less murderous version of Mayhem might not have the evil reputations — and prison records — of their Norwegian counterparts, you can count on this being a killer show.
