Mattoid Lovers

Like Big Star in their Southern interpretation of the British Invasion or The Rolling Stones in their British interpretation of American roots music, local traditionalists The Outlaw Lovers are equal parts bar rock and UK garage. Wet from 96 tears of classic organ sounds and deafening from amps turned up to 11, they hit all the right notes to sonically personify decadence and provide the perfect soundtrack for a night of frequenting dive bars and trying out new transgressions. With overly simplistic arrangements, lo-fi production and lyrical content that would merit regular rotation airplay on the Dr. Demento Show, the Mattoid are at first impression a novelty act. However, multiple spins will reveal an uncanny knack for pop melodies that are only endeared by the “economical” production value, and, before you know it, the band becomes an itch that you can't help but scratch. Their songs will take permanent residence in your head, and you’ll find yourself bookmarking their MySpace page in the event that you ever need to hear "Party Time" on cue.
