One of the great things about the country instrumentalist, singer and historian Marty Stuart is how effortlessly he combines the old and the new — devoted to the sounds of classic country, he nevertheless remains an up-to-the-minute artist. Now in its 11th year, Stuart’s Late Night Jam remains one of the best ways for fans to ease into CMA week. This year’s edition features Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives, who benefit mightily from the incisive guitar work of Kenny Vaughan. Also on board is the honky-tonk singer Stonewall Jackson, whose unpretentious vocals have graced such hits as “Waterloo.” For fans of country-rock, Roger McGuinn will be on hand — you may remember his pioneering electric 12-string guitar work with The Byrds. Rounding out the bill are Wynonna, The Chuck Wagon Gang and the timeless country singer (and new Hall of Famer) Connie Smith and her band, The Sundowners.
