Ah, Paris in autumn. The rain wrapping at your cab window. The colorful umbrellas blooming on the sidewalk. The romance in the air. The cost of the trip … (screeching sound). Shed no tears, mon ami, because this October, Paris comes to us. Now, unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that
The Birth of Impressionism exhibit is on view at the Frist Center. Treasured gems of the Musée d’Orsay are at out fingertips! On Oct. 16, the Frist will bring the museum’s curator himself all the way from the City of Lights to the Music City. Stéphane Guégan will deliver a talk, “Manet v. Impressionism,” examining the work of the controversial master. Guégan’s lecture will be followed by one from yet another luminary of the art world. Gary Tinterow from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York will explore Spanish influence on the Impressionist style.
