Mandy Stoller's Now in 3D! at Watkins

Rock 'n' Stoller

Rock 'n' Stoller
If you've attended a recent Nashville art event and been taken aback by a print of a cat zooming through the galaxy in a spaceship or a video of a Cristy Lane impersonator lip-synching Christmas carols to another cat floating beneath a shoddy golden halo, you've seen the delightfully strange work of Mandy Stoller. The artist's videos were the highlight of Open Lot's grand opening exhibit, and the Watkins senior has kept up a rather relentless schedule of shows through the fall. Although we aren't exactly sure what to expect from Now in 3D!—the multimedia artist's senior thesis exhibit—it definitely involves colorful architectural renderings superimposed on landscape photographs. Oh yeah, and 3D glasses! And perhaps a cat or two?
