Weve been known to give our neighbor to the south, Williamson County, a good-natured ribbing about its right-wing leaningsand understandably so, as just under 70 percent of the county went for McCain in the 2008 presidential election. Still, 27,886 Williamsonians pulled the lever for Obama, so dont be so quick to paint all Frankliners, Brentwoodites and Leipers Forkians with the same red brush. In fact, the Williamson County Democratic Party is one of the more active political organizations around here, hosting monthly potluck dinners and periodic Make It Blue Monday fundraisers, which typically attract some top-name talent to headline the evening. (Hell, most of those hippie musicians are a damn bunch of lefty pinko commies, so its hardly surprising.) This edition features one of the stalwarts from the cool side of country, Rodney Crowell, whose last album, 2008s much lauded Sex and Gasoline, got a Grammy nomination. (Not to mention that Crowell penned Wynonnas 2009 hit Sing, a remix of which made it to No. 4 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Club Song charthow many country artists can say that?)
