Maggie Moo’s is a national chain, but all of the ice cream in individual shops is made on the premises. Creamy, rich and dense, it can be ordered as is, but the defining characteristic here is the procedure of mixing in other ingredients like chocolate chips, cookie dough balls, nuts, fruit and candy pieces. Your scoop is thrown onto a chilled marble slab, and the add-ins are mixed into the ice cream with a large spatula, then piled into a cup or cone. Be warned that the elaborate process can mean long lines.
