Luke Bulla at The Violin Shop

Whatta Load a Bulla

Whatta Load a Bulla
One of the foremost young musicians in Nashville, Luke Bulla tends to fly under the radar because he works in so many different veins. He’s toured with Kevin Costner’s roots-rock/Americana band and with Jerry Douglas; he’s teamed up for some dandy duo concerts with fellow fiddle phenom Casey Driessen and is about to head out for the summer with Lyle Lovett. But while he’s a convincing singer and gifted multi-instrumentalist, the fiddle is still his most common choice, and so it’s no surprise that he’s the latest to make an appearance in the “Hot Fiddle Nights” series that master violin craftsman (and fine fiddler himself) Fred Carpenter has launched at The Violin Shop. While other performers featured in the series may be better known, none is more creative or inspired than Bulla, so whehter he’s on his own or backed by a collection of friends—or, most likely, both—the show’s a great opportunity to catch a fine young sideman stepping out on his own for an evening.
