Charlie Louvin has had as impressive a career in country-music as it’s possible to imagine. As one-half of the Louvin Brothers, he opened for Elvis Presley in 1955, and their records have inspired generations of alt-country musicians. Now a solo artist, the Buckle Bell, Tenn., resident has been working more or less continually ever since. His upcoming album Murder Ballads and Disaster Songs appears on Tuesday; its audaciously gloomy subject matter shows the same flair for the macabre that the Brothers displayed on their 1960 LP Satan Is Real. His Grimey’s gig is a rare opportunity to see a country/folk legend up close. Also performing are Those Darlins, whose boozy brand of traditionalist country has made them legends in their own right.

I am elated to read about Charlie's new recording. Might I say he is and has been a true Country artist and the tradition lives on. It seems the older he gets, the better he is, ( like wine). having known him for many years, I can truthfully say he is and Idol. Congratulations Charlie.
