Listen to Your Mother

When: Sat., April 26, 7 p.m. 2014
Motherhood is not just about changing diapers and nagging teenagers. Maternal experience runs a wide gamut — from being an egg donor to delivering triplets; from caring for an adult child to deciding not to be a mother in the first place. Local directors Carrie Ferguson Weir and Brigid Day, along with producer Anne McGraw, held auditions to identify moms — and not-moms — willing to share that range of perspectives when the national series of readings Listen to Your Mother touches down in Nashville. “They’re not media superstars or speakers,” Weir says of the baker’s dozen of women who will share original narratives onstage at TPAC, “but they are hilarious, heartwarming and courageous, because they stood up and took a chance on being heard.” CARRINGTON FOX
