Les Miz! A Tale of Two Cities

When: Tuesdays, Fridays-Sundays. Continues through Sept. 4 2010
Price: $21-$25
Long before Boiler Room Theatre, there was the Avante Garage! Theatre, where the younger, budding talents of BRT artistic director Jamey Green were put to use producing musicals that parodied the literature of Shakespeare and Dickens and the musical numbers of Broadway smash hits. After revisions, these pieces managed to find their way back to life via BRT, including McBeth! (2002) and Hamlet! The Melancholy Dane! (2004). Now the Dickens gets its re-mount, poking tuneful fun at shows such as My Fair Lady, Jesus Christ Superstar, Les Miserables, etc. The musical premiered in 1993, with original book, music and lyrics by Green, Michael Bouson, Joe Correll and Kathy Shepard. (This revival features some new material by Green.) One of BRT’s big, all-star casts has been assembled, including American Idol season 2 finalist Corey Clark, BRT veterans Lisa Gillespie, Scott Rice snd Laura Thomas Sonn, and also Jeffrey Williams, Megan Murphy Chambers, Stephen Henry, Anthony Just, Dan McGeachy, Phil Perry and Lane Wright.
