TPAC's Broadway Series concludes its '08-'09 season on a potential high note, with the song-and-dance version of the movie that made Nashville native Reese Witherspoon a really big star. Whether the musical reaches the heights of hilarity and feel-good whimsy of the original flick remains to be seen, but the Broadway production was nominated for many big awards, and this particular touring effort--which continues nationwide until well into 2010--has also been recognized for excellence in design and dance. The tour's Elle Woods, Becky Gulsvig, will be absent from the Nashville run, but a more-than-suitable replacement has been found in Tony nominee Laura Bell Bundy, who sang the role on Broadway and is also currently pursuing a country career in Music City. Bundy performs the evening shows, while Lauren Ashley Zakrin handles the matinees. Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell reprises his direction and choreography from the New York production, and the peppy and poppy score is by Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin.
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: June 23. Continues through June 28, 2009
