UPDATE: This event has been postponed.
In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, you could find yourself drinking green beer amid a troupe of bar crawlers — or you could get a shot of history. In a lunchtime event, the Gordon Jewish Community Center’s Kurt Meyer will lead a discussion about the late Chaim Herzog, Irish-born Israeli politician, soldier, lawyer and author. Herzog, who served as the sixth president of Israel, was born in Belfast and immigrated to Palestine in 1935. He was appointed as Israel’s U.N. ambassador before being elected to the presidency in 1983, serving two five-year terms. The event is open to the public and costs $10 for GJCC members and $15 for non-members, and the admission price includes Irish stew.
