Korean is Asian at The Basement

Tennessean is American

Tennessean is American
With a name like Korean is Asian, it would seem that this local trio is all about stating the obvious, but musically they have something of a compelling mystique. Harmony-laden and roots-infused, their ethereal, post-traumatic folk rock evokes feelings of both comfort and isolation in a way that makes the group stand out in a town replete with harmony-laden, roots-infused, ethereal, post-traumatic folk rock. The band features songwriters Brian Richey and brother-sister combo of Jordan and Alex Caress. For the Caresses, predecessors such as The Band, Bob Dylan and Van Morrison are more than mere influences, as the two siblings grew up performing songs by said artists in a family band led by their older brothers—an experience which Alex Caress says influenced Korean is Asian’s “collaborative musical mentality.” Be sure to keep your eyes and ears peeled for the band’s upcoming LP, tentatively set to drop in the fall.
