Starting Thursday, several hundred mystery lovers will converge on Nashville’s Hutton Hotel, where they’ll find out whether it’s better to publish (puts on sunglasses) … or perish. YEAAAAAHHHH!!!! Music City’s seventh convention for murder mavens features one of its strongest lineups yet, boasting a best-selling roster that includes Peter Straub (Ghost Story), C.J. Box (Force of Nature), Jeffery Deaver (XO), and veteran screenwriter-director Heywood Gould (whose credits include the first-rate William Devane revenge thriller Rolling Thunder — oh, and Cocktail). The weekend won’t all be signings, agent-editor Q&As and panel discussions, however: There’ll also be a banquet, a bingo game, even a wine tasting. Count on plenty of (puts on sunglasses) … red. YEAAAAAHHHH!!!! Local guests include Edgar-winning novelist Steven Womack and MNPD cold-case Detective Pat Postiglione, who’s overseen some of the city’s highest-profile cases.
