Keith Urban at Sommet Center

The ladies love Keith Urban. And why not? He’s positively dreamy, he speaks in that lilting Australian accent, he’s got one sing-along country hit after another, and he brought no less a fashion icon than Nicole Kidman to our little town by making her his bride. It’s no wonder the average Urban audience sports a female-to-male ratio only mildly more testosterone-y than a taping of The View. But this is a plea to the fellas: Give a brother a chance, and not just because the Sommet Center will be boiling over with unrequited female ardor after the last note rings out. By then, Urban’s flamethrowing guitar work, which finds him channeling untrammeled joy and fury into one flurry of perfectly chosen notes after another, might have sealed the deal on a newfound man-crush to call your own.
