Catching a show from the American Comedy Award-winner for “Best Female Stand-Up” makes one wonder how such a massive amount of hilarity can come from such a tiny package — she’s kinda like Tom Cruise in that way. The Missouri native is also kind of like that one wisecracking, alcohol-fueled, relentlessly mouthy cousin every family tries to seat furthest away from Grandma at Thanksgiving dinner. Only this mouthy cousin has parlayed those colorful, deliciously cynical takes on politics, religion and pop culture into appearances on Letterman, Leno, Comedy Central, CNN, VH-1, E!, her own Sirius Satellite Radio show and repeat stints on NBC’s Last Comic Standing. Then again, her own official bio describes her thusly: “Kathleen Madigan is America’s only living leprechaun.” The descriptive similarities may abound, but when it comes to her live show, she’s just plain incomparable.
