Re: “For a teen’s impulsive, unthinkable act, Cyntoia Brown got an adult’s life sentence. Was justice served?

I'm going to adress bubbles, tres, tankman, and my bleeding heart:

Cyntoia's adopted mother got Cyntoia from 6-18 months then again at 2 years of age. The critical development period is from 0-2. God only knows what she saw, experienced, inhaled, what abuse she received in that period. Then she was abused as a child. I don't think you understand what her personality entails, despite her high IQ she has a disconnect with reality, and the cocaine didnt help that at all.

As for Mr. Allen. "He may not have been a stand-up guy but he didnt deserve to die the way he did"? That's the understatement of the century. What if you read an article in the newspaper about a youth minister who invites young girls to his sunday school class, then takes them home and rapes them. I can almost guarantee you would have people comment that he should be hung for his sick actions. What is a youth minister doing picking up prostitutes anyway, and collecting guns and telling people he's a sharpshooter. He also picked up a clearly underaged prostitute, the man had a thing for underaged girls, if he didn't rape young girls he would pay for them, if anything Cyntoia did the community a favor by putting away a child rapist. He sure sounded like a good christian to me.
And what's this about you're sick about these sob stories and they should be putting people away to protect society. The girl was clearly without any control over her life until she was over the age of 10, and even then how much control would you say a 10 or even 16 year old has over their life. And what danger are you in? The only reason Allen was in danger was because he was picking up coked out prostitutes. This girl wasn't robbing people in rich suburbs. These people arent doing drugs in rich suburbs. You want to stay out of danger stay out of the ghetto, if you're in the ghetto no matter how many people they lock up you're still in danger. The real danger is that people like you i.e. morons are allowed to serve jury duty.
The most telling thing about this story is that no matter how much people like a good success story like that movie The Blindside, or The Pursuit of Happiness where some poor disadvantaged person with some kind of talent (like a high IQ and incredibly articulate ; hint hint Cyntoia) beats the odds of their circumstance and succeeds, the fact is that doesn't happen. This girl had all the tools to be succesful but her life was predetermined for her and now with the help of the penile system it really was over before it even began. It's sad and all you people are too busy being cynical and looking at this as a story to prove your point than to really see that it's someone's life we're talking about. February just ended and the immortal Martin Luther King would have been the first to tell you "an eye for an eye leaves everyone blind"
