Kamera Sutra at The Belcourt

An Orgy of Moviemaking

An Orgy of Moviemaking
The audiences get bigger every month at this regular showcase for dramatic, experimental, documentary and animated shorts by local filmmakers, which gives Middle Tennessee directors a steady venue for hard-to-place short-form projects. Submissions range from polished high-production-value calling cards to near-guerrilla one-offs: recent highlights have included young director Ryan Smith’s macabre “The Devil’s Shoestring” and veteran Nashville filmmaker Wes Edwards’ “Falling to the Top.” There’s an added incentive for tyros wanting to get their work before the public: each month’s hour-long harvest will be broadcast locally on Music City Arts Channel 9. The $5 cover goes toward The Belcourt’s digital-projector fund.
