Kadavar w/Mothership

When: Fri., April 11, 8 p.m. 2014
Price: $12
I am loathe to directly quote a publicist — journalists and publicists are natural enemies, like our state legislators and rational thought — but whoever plugged the line “It is impossible to overhear the Black Sabbath influence” in Kadavar’s bio is a genius. Sure, it’s perhaps the most “duh” statement of all time, but it’s also a point that needs to be made — these dudes don’t just channel Ozzy-era Sabbath, but Dio-era Sabbath too! There’s a lot of Sabbath seeping out of this German trio’s sound, but that is A-OK with me. And these dudes aren’t just repurposing the Masters of Reality, they manage to channel all the titans of heavy music. The true nerds among us will hear echos of Uriah Heep, reverberations of UFO and avalanches of Mountain — a Kadavar record is basically made from hesher dreams and headbanger hopes all woven into a monstrous sound set to shake you innards.
