Few old bromides seem more urgent these days than the one about walking a mile in someone else’s shoes. Those who sign up for this charity stroll down Music Row West and up Music Row East will walk about 2.2 miles in all, but organizers hope that will be enough to remind participants and onlookers alike about the roughly 7,119 miles between Nashville and Khartoum, capital city of Sudan. That approximates the journey made by Nashville’s Sudanese population, among the thousands of “Lost Boys” driven from their homeland by genocide. Their art has become a vital ingredient in Nashville’s cultural mix, and to provide more support for their efforts all proceeds from today’s walk will benefit the Lost Boys Foundation. Registration is $20 per person or $17 each in groups of 10 or more; for more information, call 256-8302 or see www.thelostboysfoundation.org.
