If you’re anything like me, you can’t help but start fantasizing about a new wardrobe around this time every year. Why not take a cue from stylish women of the ’70s, as seen through the lens of visionary photographers like William Eggleston? A little frizzy hair, a little frosty eyeshadow, maybe some Virginia Slims and you’re halfway to Ali MacGraw. In what’s quickly becoming the most stylish art series in Nashville, Susan Sherrick and Libby Callaway’s Joint projects marry food, music and fashion with art that spans the gamut from affordable to masterpiece. For their third project, Sherrick and Callaway are focusing on portraits of women that recall New York in the 1970s. On view will be thematic work by local and national artists including Eggleston, Katy Grannan, Saul Leiter, Judy Linn (whose portraits of Patti Smith are among the most eagerly anticipated), Leon Levinstein, Joel Meyerowitz, Jeannette Montgomery Barron, Heidi Ross, Mark Steinmetz, Garry Winogrand and Josh Wool.
