There’s a billion-and-a-half bands that pop up, rock out and then promptly disappear in this town. One of our favorites from the last half-decade had to be the Appalachian murder-blues trio Creech Holler — that shit was wild, electrifying and so Southern it sounded like it had just jumped the gates of Hell. That was a hell of a band. But like so many before and since, shit just didn’t work out. That said, we’re pumped to have Creech Holler frontman Jeff Zentner back on the circuit, making tunes and playing shows. His new material, which you can check out at soundcloud[dot]com/jeffzentner, is the polar opposite of the ol’ Holler — subdued and ethereal where Creech was all bombast and then some. But it’s just as fascinating, just as fun and just as rewarding. Zentner is joined by Lance Whalen and Graham Lindsey.
