Jazz on the Move: Ellingtown

When: Sun., May 2, 2 & 3:30 p.m. 2010
The Nashville Jazz Workshop teams up with the Frist Center for the latest installment of their thought-provoking performance and lecture series Jazz on the Move. Today's show takes the A-train through a performance of the music of the Duke himself. This event should appeal to newbies as well as hardcore jazzheads, just as Duke Ellington's compositions have remained both consistently foundational and inexhaustibly inspirational to that one and only truly American art form: jazz. This show should also appeal to the younger set, as the Downtown Public Library will be joining in the fun to present “Ellingtown: A Jazz Puppet Show.” There will be two performances. Far out.
