James King Band at Station Inn

James King Version

James King Version
Virginia’s James King has always had the emotional kick of a mule when it comes to singing a good bluegrass story, but what makes the latest of his occasional Nashville appearances a particular treat is the quality of his current band. Longtime sidekick Kevin “Waldo” Prater is still on hand, but the remainder of the quintet now consists of Midwesterners—irrepressible banjo man Chris Hill, down-to-earth fiddler Greg Moore and veteran Glenn “Cookie” Inman on bass—and they back “The Bluegrass Storyteller” (a title signed off on by Tom T. Hall) with a muscular, no-nonsense approach that makes a reliable platform for his complete investment in each song.
