Dia de los Muertos traditions date back to the religious rites of the pre-Hispanic indigenous peoples of Mexico. Unlike the sugar orgy that is Halloween, "Dia" is a time to remember ancestors and honor the dead. The Plowhaus celebration consists of four days and nights of art, music, costumes, libations and spooky good times. This year's participating artists include Connie Knock, Carri Hofaker, John Holland, Franne Lee, Tiffany Denton, Nieves Uhl, Julie Sola, Janet Lee, Ayjey, Curt Perkins, Willow Fort, Andee Rudloff, Audra Ladd, Kevin Brock, Sarah E. Fowler, McNasty, Lindsay Black, Tracy Ratliff, Joe Silva, Jessica Maloan, Shannon Wages, Bethany Taylor and Jennifer Bronstein. Visit plowhaus.org for details.
Thursdays-Sundays. Starts: Oct. 23. Continues through Nov. 8, 2008
