Guess what’s currently hip in alternative youth culture? Free stuff, hanging out at concert venues, .me Web addresses, and, as always, Goodwill. What a coincidence that all of these would come together in what is sure to be one of the hippest events for the under-18 crowd this weekend — the istyled.me runway show. In this fashionable social contest for students in Nashville, the catwalk takes center stage to showcase Nashville’s most stylin’ and thrifty. To compete, local high-schoolers had to buy an entire outfit at Goodwill for less than $25, and upload a picture of themselves modeling it to the website. Students whose outfits are “liked” the most get to walk in a runway show, and a panel of celebrity judges will choose winners in three categories. A visit to the website may make you forget about this month’s
Vogue, and bodes well for the show. So come out and support the istyled.me ladies and the dashing young men who join them in this night of celebrated alt-ness.
