Is She Weird, Is She White: Pixies Tribute w/Foxcore: Sleater-Kinney Tribute

When: Fri., July 1, 9 p.m. 2011
Price: $5
While My So-Called Band is playing the hits of the ’90s to a crowd of drunk nostalgia fiends at Mercy Lounge, a decidedly different kind of tribute act is scheduled to go down across the river. Is She Weird, Is She White is a by-the-book Pixies tribute band led by local alt-country roustabout Bobby Bare Jr., along with Forget Cassettes’ Beth Cameron and former Trail of Dead drummer Doni Schroader (both currently of Eliza the Arrow). Bare and Co. leave no stone unturned, playing everything from Come On Pilgrim to Trompe le Monde. Opening is Foxcore, a Sleater-Kinney tribute band that rocks a hell of a lot harder than I ever remember Carrie Brownstein did.
