International Pop Overthrow feat. The Decadence, Greg Pope, Dohse, Nine Times Blue, Richard Dubois, Dark Circles & The RA-6600

When: Sat., May 3, 7 p.m. 2014
Price: $8
After a seven-year break, the International Pop Overthrow is coming back to Music City. Each year, the festival books as many as 180 groups in its birthplace of Los Angeles, but this year’s Nashville IPO focuses on quality over quantity, offering 26 acts over four nights, all united by the joy they find in music from the mid-1960s, alternately lauded and derided as The Golden Age of Pop, and all of its raucous musical children. The acts range from the venerable and seldom-seen — this is one of your best opportunities to catch piano-riff genius Seth Timbs, country-punk master Richard DuBois, and Walter Egan, whose supply of indelible hooks only began with “Magnet and Steel” — to shining young blog-hoppers like power-pop acolytes Sherbert, Fox Fun and Anchor Thieves.
