Howlin' After Dark: It's Personal — Stories Inspired By Life's Slices, Dices, Vices, Slyness and Kindness

When: Fri., Sept. 6, 8-10 p.m. 2013
Howlin’ Books, located in Grimey’s Too, kicks off its Emerging Voices series, which features a lineup of local writers curated by store owners Jessica Kimbrough and Gwil Owen and songwriter/author/artist Merrill Farnsworth. The first gathering — featuring the theme “It’s Personal: Stories Inspired by Life’s Slices, Dices, Vices, Slyness and Kindness” — showcases the works of Phil Madeira, Mark Lemley, Joan Brasher, Joe Pagetta and Kristin Russell, who will read aloud from their works of prose and poetry. The event is BYOB, and refreshments from Frothy Monkey will be available for purchase. The series continues on the first Friday of each month through December. Future themes look pretty intriguing too: “Blues Haunted” (Oct. 4), “Trying to Say Thank You” (Nov. 1), and “Howlin’ in the Dark” (Dec. 6).
