There are few things more exhilarating that whipping through the air on country roads--nothing but cows and companions to distract you from the task of covering that next mile. But, if you’re going to enjoy the rise this time around, you better bring two x chromosomes and a tolerance for the color pink. This annual girls-only bike ride benefits a distinctly female-centric cause--breast cancer research--and also offers an opportunity for active, engaged women to spend a day together, cruising the rural Tennessee landscape. Men are invited to help by handing out snacks, refilling water bottles and supplying their invaluable moral support, but the real heavy lifting is left to the ladies who will have their choice of 12, 29, 62 (a metric century: 100 km) and 100-mile routes. 100 percent of registration fees go directly to The Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation; visit how100.org for information.
